Modern Camp
|
Renovated by Mindel and Morse 2017-18
Newfane, VT |
This house started out as a little hunting camp. By the time the current owners arrived, it had seen additions and various renovations that resulted in dark corners, an unfortunate flow, and a potpourri of styles. Our clients got in touch with architect Robert Swinburne and together we worked out a comprehensive overhaul. The result is a space with unifying modern aesthetics and an improved layout that defines entry, cooking, social, and cozy areas. This project is full of custom features which we delivered in collaboration with local metal workers and cabinet makers.
Finally, it wouldn't be a Mindel and Morse project if we didn't do what we could to improve energy efficiency and comfort. The kitchen area was taken down to the studs as part of the renovation allowing us to improve the air seal and to increase the level of insulation. This - combined with electric radiant heat, a newly insulated crawl space, and lots of natural light - turned the house into a very comfortable space.
